Agritechnica – The World’s No.1

Blogpost updated in January 2018

On 10th November 2019 the time has come again. The world’s largest agricultural machinery fair begins. Agritechnica with its 2,900 exhibitors will attract many visitors to Hannover. For a whole week, manufacturers and service providers from all over the world will be presenting ideas and innovations. The trade fair offers a comprehensive overview of future-oriented agriculture in a total of 23 halls.

A 125-year history of success

With Agritechnica in Hanover, the German Agricultural Society (DLG) has created the world’s largest marketplace for agricultural technology. In its image film it says:

“If you want to be prepared for the future, you have to keep up with the technological development of agriculture”.

For more than 125 years, the DLG has organised specialist exhibitions in the agricultural and food industries. The very first exhibition organised by the DLG took place in 1887 in Frankfurt on the Main. The success story of Agritechnica began in 1985. Initially with 551 exhibitors, the trade fair first informed its visitors in Frankfurt before moving to Hanover in 1995.

International industry meeting place: Agritechnica 2017

The last Agritechnica was extremely successful. That is why most of the exhibitors will take part again this year. Meeting colleagues and industry experts every two years at Agritechnica is a major reason for visiting.  Many of them are forestry experts who have specialised particularly in bioenergy and renewable raw materials.

The international reach of the fair is growing from time to time. In 2011 already half of the exhibitors came from abroad and this proportion is constantly increasing.

Green Future – Smart Technology

Agritechnica 2017 was held under the theme of sustainability. In agriculture, this means producing a lot on the one hand and using resources carefully on the other. Environmental protection is an issue that is no longer letting go of us.

Agriculture is by no means “out”: everything in the world is becoming increasingly cross-linked. This offers many new opportunities for farmers. They need know-how and efficient technologies. For example, it is possible to milk cows automatically and without human effort. The modern farmer controls this digitally and thereby saves many work steps. Technology is intended to facilitate and support processes in the farmer’s profession.

“Green Future – Smart Technology”: The motto describes exactly this context. At Agritechnica, traditional expertise will be combined with the latest developments in technology. In this way, productivity can be sustainably increased. Today’s farmers rely on tomorrow’s technology.

Professional programme with a perspective on the future

Visitors and exhibitors also benefit from the supporting programme of the agricultural fair, as conferences and seminars complete the programme.

Are you looking for answers to specific questions? On the official website of the fair there is an option to send them in advance. Existing suggestions for topics include, for example, everything to do with correct soil cultivation and seed technology. Once again, plant protection is particularly highlighted. What is the best way to control this and is it also possible with the help of apps?
