Light + Building is the world’s leading event for lighting technology. This year the trade fair proved its legitimacy as a leading event once again with an impressive edition held in Frankfurt am Main from 18 to 23 March 2018.
As an international trade fair for lighting and building technology, the exhibitors presented numerous innovative and well thought-out (lighting) solutions. The presentation of new design trends sparked creative design ideas and inspired trade visitors with their creative design ideas.
Die Light + Building 2018
Light + Building is the only trade fair in the world that brings together the leading key sectors of integrated building planning to such an extent that the areas build on each other and complement each other perfectly. The trade visitors were able to find out about solutions to reduce energy consumption and increase comfort at the same time. Numerous architects, interior designers, designers and planners cavorted in the halls. Engineers and craftsmen were represented as well.
“Networked – Safe – Convenient”
During Light + Building, Frankfurt is the world’s largest stage for the lighting market. The exhibitors’ range of products includes designer luminaires in all styles, technical luminaires and lamps in various variations. There is a large selection of lighting components and accessories as well as outdoor and street luminaires. The subject of light receives completely new and exciting impulses with the combination of the electrical engineering and home and building automation segments.
This year’s motto for Light + Building is based on the following three keywords: networked, safe and comfortable. The focus was therefore on intelligent and networked solutions, innovative technologies and current design trends.
Light that makes you feel good
The modern lighting market has a lot to offer. Every two years, the trade fair city of Frankfurt shines with the bundled design competence of its exhibitors. One focus this year was on design trends. Digitalization presents lighting technology and design with new challenges and opportunities. All of this could be admired at Messe Frankfurt last week. A very important aspect at Light + Building 2018 was the ever-increasing importance of human beings as the central starting point for lighting design, Human Centric Lighting. The main focus by that was on the effects of light on people’s health, performance and well-being.
New structure in the framework programme
This year Light + Building was able to shine with its newly structured framework programme. Just like two years ago, the programme was very multifaceted. The division into Emotion, Selection, Skills and Career made it very easy for trade fair visitors to find their way around and select the area of interest to them. The many different events offered opportunities for information, discussions and networking.
The supporting programme „Emotion” included an exhibition of innovative lighting creations by young designers. The AIT Award “Best in Interior and Architecture 2018” was also presented.
With the Selection @ Light + Building category, Messe Frankfurt provides its visitors with a special service. Guided tours and themed events provide an overall overview. Keeping an overview is one of the basic prerequisites for an efficient stay at the fair.
A major component of Skills @ Light + Building was the Technology Forum. The numerous training and information offers of the world’s leading trade fair left nothing to be desired. Seminars, lectures and conferences around the subject of light invited visitors to an active exchange.
Internationaler expansion
The organizers, exhibitors and visitors of Light + Building 2018 can look back on an extremely successful trade fair: More than 2,700 exhibitors presented their products on the Frankfurt exhibition grounds. The many world premieres enriched the trade fair attendance of around 220,000 trade visitors.
“The positive mood was noticeable in all halls. The sector is still on the upswing,” says Wolfgang Marzin, Vorsitzender der Geschäftsführung der Messe Frankfurt, summing up Light + Building 2018.
This year, the already very high level of internationality of the innovation fair has once again increased significantly. Around 70 percent of the exhibitors and more than half of the visitors came from abroad. Besides Germany, the strongest visitor countries were China, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Great Britain, Switzerland and Belgium.
