Post updated March 2022
With around 3,800 exhibitors from around the world, ACHEMA is the world’s largest exhibition for the process industry. Some 145,000 visitors took advantage of the latest event in June 2018 to learn about process innovations for chemical engineering, process technology and biotechnology.
Generally, the trade show is held in Frankfurt every three years. However, due to the Corona pandemic, the planned 2021 event had to be cancelled. Consequently, the next event is scheduled for Aug. 22 to Aug. 26, 2022.
Interested exhibitors can still secure their booth now. When it comes to designing and building an innovative booth, we at WUM Brand Spaces are here to help.
At ACHEMA 2018, the pharmaceutical, packaging and storage technology exhibition group saw the largest growth. The group “measurement, control and process control technology” also increased against the background of the trends digitalization and automation. Other topics with increased space occupancy were mechanical process engineering and safety technology. By contrast, the plant engineering and laboratory technology groups lost some of their relevance.
ACHEMA is more than just a trade fair
The exhibition program was rounded off by other events from the field of process innovation.
The ACHEMA Congress provided interesting insights into current research and the latest findings in the fields of chemical process technology and biotechnology. On the first three days of the exhibition, the congress program focused on the topics of resources, digitalization, and energy and climate. In particular, the presentations on the areas of digitalization and energy were very well attended.
On top of that, since 2015, various “PRAXISforums” have been held in the immediate vicinity of the halls to bring exhibitors and users even closer together. The forums were again very well received in 2018.
In addition, two panel discussions were held at ACHEMA 2018. Firstly, the question “Plastic-Free Europe – is a plastic-free Europe conceivable and reasonable?” was discussed. Even though plastic cannot be completely eliminated, the panelists were able to put forward some approaches on how to produce as little plastic waste as possible. Secondly, the panel discussion on “Digitalization meets process Industry” discussed what strategy companies can develop to meet the need for digitalization.
In this sense, the trade fair as an information platform for engineers in production and manufacturing is an important contact point for technically oriented specialists and managers.
Moreover, with the Digital Hub, ACHEMA will have its own platform for the digital sector and digitalization experts from the process industry for the first time from 2022.
